Why do I need church? Why do I need God?

There is no reason to come to church, if you don't believe in God.

But we would stake our lives on this: there is a God. He exists, and he's worth listening to. And if that's the case, then church is the best place to find out about him.

If you only live once, then you only have one chance to figure out if God is worth knowing.

If you still need some convincing, then here are some reasons why you might want to consider the existence of God:

  • Jesus died and rose again.
No other explanation can account for the historical evidence; and the fact that uneducated fishermen became preachers, leaders, and martyrs.
  • If God does not exist, then you live in a world without justice.
Hitler died in his sleep. Millions of babies die each year. Without God in the picture, justice, fairness, equity, democracy are irrelevant concepts. Your world can only be random and chaotic and unjust.
  • If God does not exist, then your life has no meaning or purpose.
Wood has no meaning or purpose. Only a creator gives it meaning: by making it into a table, a chair, a violin, a spoon. If you have a creator, you have meaning and purpose. If you have no creator, then you're left to invent one yourself.
